Beach Day

We all enjoyed relaxing and reading on the beach. Elsa has turned into a book worm reading the Junie B. Jones series. She can usually be found in a corner on the couch reading a few chapters.
I am totally amused by this picture. Their conversations are entertaining as they share their animated stories.
Greta loves her dad, and everyone loves Greta. We can't get enough of her sweetness.

Here is a picture of Ava piling rocks and our "boogie board" next to her. Hey, a snow sled works just fine in the waves. Plus, I don't think it'll get used for sledding that often.

We spent a perfect day at the beach. We met up with a large group of Brian's coworkers and their families at the beach for breakfast. Then we stayed for the rest of the day. We have quite the set-up with chairs, umbrella, pack 'n play, towels, wet suits, life jackets, sand toys, the cooler, and lots of sweatshirts. One thing we've learned is that beach weather constantly changes. It was cool in the morning so that the girls wore their wet suits to play in the surf. Then it warmed up quickly. Elsa and Ava have so much fun playing in the waves and sand. Brian or I would open our books and only get a few sentences read before another interruption - snacks, bathroom breaks, pleas for playing in the ocean, holding Greta, etc. It is definitely a busy day, but enjoyable. Greta took a good nap and then enjoyed playing with her sisters in the sand and gathering seaweed and rocks. Brian and I even got a ten minute nap. Wow! The only mishap was when Elsa got stung by a bee. However, she was so brave and didn't cry one bit. She looked for a penny to rub on the bite, but couldn't find one. Elsa is so grown-up. This was her first bee sting, so I am grateful that she isn't allergic. We ended our beach day with oreo shakes. Greta wore most of hers, but loved every minute of it. Now we are home, unpacking and cleaning all the sand. It is worth all the work.
