American Girl Dolls for Christmas

Elsa, Ava, Elizabeth, and Anna all enjoying their dolls Christmas morning. Here they are having a picnic. Their dolls also spent the day at a winter carnival (which consisted of lots of torn toilet paper for snow), sledding, and going to a ball. It was quite a busy day.

Elsa consistently asked for the last two years for an American Girl doll. She asked for her birthday and for Christmas - both years. This hasn't been on a list with multiple other items either. An American Girl doll was the only gift requested. This year, Santa listened to her. He had A LOT of encouragement once he found out that four of her cousins were also getting American Girl dolls. Elizabeth, a cousin, had woken up earlier and opened her American Girl doll. So once Elsa and Ava entered the living room and saw that their packages were in the same shape, they couldn't open them fast enough. The elation on Elsa's face was worth more than words. Elsa and Elizabeth both received the doll Elizabeth. (This got a little confusing at times when searching for their dolls.) Ava got Ruthie because her middle name is Ruth. She requested this doll for this very reason. Greta got a bitty baby and a shopping cart. (Notice Greta is in different pajamas. Thanks to Aunt Mindy who fed her chocolate all evening and then Greta's dinner was topped off with chocolate chip cookies before bed. She woke up vomiting because of all the sugar. Lesson learned...maybe.)

It was a fabulous Christmas. Elsa and Ava expressed that this was "the best Christmas ever." We were so happy that they were grateful. Elsa even wrote a note to Santa thanking him for finally getting her an American Girl doll. Santa mentioned to me that he could finally see the value in these dolls, in spite of the expense. What a great guy he is!
