Ava had a Thanksgiving program before the Thanksgiving holiday. All the kindergarten classes gathered in the auditorium for a musical program. I was so proud of Ava. She knew all the words to the songs and actions. There were a couple of really cute musical numbers. My favorite was this song, sung to the tune of "Where is Thumbkin?"
Turkey dinner, turkey dinner
Gather round, gather round
Who will get the drumstick?
Yummy yummy drumstick
All sit down, all sit down
Chestnut stuffing, cornbread muffins,
Pudding pie - one foot high,
All of us were thinner
'Til we came to dinner

Ava made such a cute pilgrim, but was having issues with her hat. After the program, there was a potluck Thanksgiving feast in the kindergarten playground (everything is outside in California). It was a little breezy but comfortable with a jacket. Most of the kids piled their plates with rolls, cheese, mini hot dogs, fruit and vegetables. Ava's plate was piled with powdered donuts, Oreo cookies, and pumpkin muffins. I saw a few parents pass by her and chuckle after looking at her plate. Where were her parents? And why won't this child eat fruit or vegetables? Whose child is she?
