Fink Our Christmas Elf
There is a story behind our Christmas Elf, Fink. Elsa and Ava have friends, Grace and Max, who have a Christmas elf named Cracker. Everyday Elsa and Ava would want to go to their house to see where Cracker would be. I was always a little confused as to what they where talking about. After inquiring, their mother told me that Cracker is an elf that she received from her mother. Cracker leaves each night to return to the North Pole to report to Santa whether the kids were naughty or nice. In the morning he'd return, always in a different place than the day before. You can never touch Cracker, or else he'll lose his Christmas magic. The kids would all tell Cracker what they wanted for Christmas, so he could make sure Santa got it right. Well, we received "The Elf on a Sh*lf" from a friend (thanks Tami). The box came a week or two before Christmas. Not knowing what it was (said Special Delivery from the North Pole), I waited until Christmas morning to have the girls open it. Of course, they excitedly shouted, "It is Cracker!" We got to name our own elf. By random selection (papers in a hat), Fink was the winning name. Now the story goes that your elf leaves on Christmas day but will return the next year at the first of December. Since we didn't get our elf until later, Fink stuck around until New Year's Day. Elsa and Ava had so much fun waking up each morning and searching the house to find Fink. They would always get so close to examine Fink, but they didn't touch him. I was impressed with their self-control, and their belief in his magic. This is such a fun Christmas tradition. Can't wait until next December when Fink returns!
