Elsa is Six Years-Old
Happy Birthday Elsa! What a great day it was for her. It is a tradition we have of decorating the house, especially the kitchen, for the birthday person. Elsa woke up early and ran into my room to tell me she saw a "Fancy Nancy" table and decorations. I told her the birthday fairies must have come at night and decorated. She smirked and matter-of-factly said, "Seriously Mom? There is only ONE real fairy and that is the tooth fairy. You and Daddy are the birthday fairies." She picked Fruit Loops for her special breakfast (easy for me), and then went to school. Elsa got off the bus wearing a birthday crown and said that the kids sang to her at school. She also got to ride the bus home since it was an early release day. She felt extra special to have that experience too. We had planned on going to the zoo right after school. (We also had a showing that night, so I cleaned all morning. It took longer than expected, and we didn't leave until 3pm.) When we got to the zoo at 3:45, we found out that the zoo now closes at 4pm with the fall season hours. Bummer. However, they let us in and we were able to stay for an hour. With no crowds, we made it through all the exhibits and were able to see most of the animals. This worked out perfectly because Brian's flight from Chicago came in earlier too. We picked him up and went to eat at Benihana. Elsa and Ava had so much fun. Ava sat next to me and continually commented on how cool it was. She asked me if I wished I could cook like him (the chef). Elsa loved her special balloon birthday hat and dessert. She repeatedly said, "Thank you, Mom, for taking me to the zoo and thank you, Dad, for taking me to dinner. This birthday is better than ever." It is wonderful to have appreciative children. I LOVE YOU ELSA.
