Happy Halloween! (It has taken a while to post.) I LOVE Halloween. We had a busy week leading up to the big day. Ava had Special Person's Night at her preschool on Tuesday. I went with her to carve pumpkins and listen to her sing Halloween songs. Wednesday night, we went to our church Halloween party where they kids played games, had more treats, and paraded around in their costumes. Friday was busy with a preschool party for Ava and a field trip to a nearby farm for Elsa. None of these activities topped trick-or-treating. The girls were so excited to dress up one more time. They were more thrilled that our whole family dressed up.
We went as...the Wizard of Oz. We were only missing the tin man. My costume was literally thrown together in five minutes. I spent most of my time getting everyone else ready in their costumes. The girls had so much fun. We couldn't have had better weather. It had been in the 30's & 40's leading up to Friday. Then on Friday it was 70 degrees. We didn't need to worry about layering, coats, etc. We gathered with our neighborhood at the end of the cul-de-sac for cider, pictures, and a parade. It was so fun to see every one's costumes. We trick-or-treated around the neighborhood for 45 minutes until Ava was done. (Elsa and Brian continued for another 30-45 minutes.) She was anxious to come home to pass out candy. She was very generous giving handfuls to each person who came. We still ended up with TONS of candy. We bagged most of it and sent it to Chicago with Brian. Now that it has been a week, the girls haven't been as obsessed with candy. Thank goodness. Our moods are better as a result. :)
Glenda, Dorothy, and Elphaba, aka The Wicked Witch of the West. (Ava is a little hard to see since she blends in with the grass. She loved painting her face, but didn't like taking it off as much.)
Brian refused to wear face make-up. He claimed we were out of time. He took the easy way out, but at least he joined in on the fun.
The not-so-cowardly lion is tired. Greta fell asleep about 20 minutes into the activities and slept through all the fun. She looked so cute all dressed up.

Great costumes! Way to carry out a theme and get Brian to join in the fun too. I've yet to convince Greg to dress up for Halloween...one of these years ! :)
